Marketing help that starts with a Diagnostic and gets done
These are our small business marketing services for owner-operators, SMEs and growing businesses across New Zealand, whether you do your own marketing or already have some help. There are three, and they fit together: find out what's working, fix what isn't, and keep it going.
Most work starts with a Marketing Diagnostic, so any money you spend after it goes on the things that matter most. You can start with a project instead if you already have a clear brief and know what you want, and the work can be properly scoped and priced, with a clear end result and timeline.
1. Marketing Diagnostic: find what's working
A close look at your website, search visibility, tracking, ads, reviews, competitors, social media and email. You get a plain-English report and a 90-day plan, in order of what will make the most difference.
Suits you if you have a website, a Google listing and maybe some ads, but can't tell what's bringing in work.
What's included: the review of all eight areas, and the report and 90-day plan, walked through with you on a call. It's a fixed-scope piece of work with a fixed fee, from $1,500 + GST, paid upfront, and we don't need any of your passwords.
2. Implementation: fix what isn't working
We fix the things the Diagnostic finds, or work alongside your web person to get them done.
Suits you if you have a plan but not the time, or the hands, to put it in place.
What's included: whatever the plan puts first. For example, fixing an enquiry form that isn't sending, setting up tracking so you can see where enquiries come from, or tidying up your Google Business Profile. We scope and price the work in writing before anything starts.
When we'll say no: if a job is outside what we do well, if we don't have the capacity to do it properly, or if we don't think we're the right fit for you, we'll tell you honestly rather than take it on.
3. Ongoing support: a part-time marketing lead
A monthly retainer for businesses that want a part-time marketing lead without hiring one. We stay on, keep the plan moving and help you decide what to do next.
Suits you if marketing keeps sliding to the bottom of your list and you'd like someone to own it, without adding a person to the payroll.
What's included:
- A set number of hours each month, agreed upfront (usually between 10 and 18), so you know what you're getting.
- A short priority list we agree at the start of each month, taken from your 90-day plan, so the time goes on what matters most.
- Hands-on work, not just advice: fixes, campaigns, content, search, tracking and ads, or briefing and checking the work of your other suppliers.
- A one-page report each month in plain English: what we did, what changed and what's next.
- A monthly check-in call with us, and short written updates in between.
- A 90-day review to check progress against where you started.
How it works: there's a 3-month minimum to start, because most marketing changes take a few months to show results. After that it's month to month, with 30 days' notice whenever you want to stop. If you need more time in a month, we'll agree it with you first. Unused hours don't carry over.
What it costs
Every piece of work has its scope and fee agreed in writing before it starts, so you're never guessing.
- Marketing Diagnostic: from $1,500 + GST. A fixed fee, agreed in writing, paid upfront.
- Implementation and ongoing support: scoped and priced in writing once we know what's needed.
Prices exclude GST. GST will be added if Button Marketing is GST-registered at the invoice date.
Why owners work with us
- It starts with a Diagnostic, not a sales pitch. You get a clear picture before you commit to anything ongoing.
- Plain English and honest numbers. No jargon, and anything technical is explained.
- No go-between. You deal directly with whoever is doing your work, not an account manager, so nothing gets lost in a handover.
- Based in Christchurch, working NZ-wide. We meet by video call anywhere in NZ, or in person in Christchurch.
Not sure where to start?
